Designed objects present themselves for human interaction via moments for interface. These features, such as handles and buttons, have become cliché affordances for triggering intended reactions. Creation of Identity is a Critical Device Art piece that challenges the audience/participant to discover/create their own affordances. Like a dancer's movements conducting the music to which they perform.

It is through our interactions with the world around us that we learn the parameters of our existence and refine our expressions in the world. Creation of ID asks humans to physically involve themselves in the creation of a non-human multi sensory entity. The human interaction is captured in both material and sonic form resulting in the birth of an entity that in turn impacts upon the human audience through their visual and aural sensors. The interactions of the last participant informs and influences then next.

Creation of Identity was presented at Casa de Prelada, Porto, in 2017.
